What's for dinner?

Post by Pepsi Maxil »

I'm having pasta bolognese with some garlic bread tonight. Think I'll throw a few finger chilies into the sauce to give it a spicy kick.

I made my usual slop for myself and my parents.

It's quick, easy, and wholesome, and suits my mum, who's not very well and can't have fatty foods.

Turkey mince, peas, carrots, potatoes, all cooked together in gravy, served with root vegetable mash and Yorkshire puddings.

I'm stuffed.

I've got a Piers Morgan special of some vegan sausage rolls which I'm going to chuck in the oven in a minute.

Dauphinoise potatoes, salmon in a creamy basil sauce, caramelized shallots and wilted spinach.

A satsuma, baby tomatoes, cucumber slices and black olives eaten alternately, then a selection of oatcakes and crackers with some reserve Gouda I bought from M&S during the first panic weeks of the plague when I thought I might never see cheese again.

Followed by a succession of vodka and tonics.

Knocking up a demi-glace for the basis of tonight's Madeira sauce...

So it turned into chicken with Madeira sauce, dauphinoise (had to use up the ingredients and it's lockdown so I'll take comfort food when I like), spinach with a little garlic and walnut oil, caramelized shallots and carrots...with a great Sancerre (Domaine Daulny, recent and crisp) I bought for my birthday last month from B's former wine merchant. Not bad at all.
